Resident-to-Resident Abuse, also referred to as Resident-to-Resident Elder Mistreatment (RRM), is defined as “Negative physical, sexual, or verbal interactions between long-term care residents that in a community setting would likely be construed as unwelcome and have high potential to cause physical or psychological distress in the recipient”.
The purpose of this course is to ensure you gain an understanding of the risk factors of resident-to-resident abuse, the requirement to address and report incidents, and why individualized, resident-centered care is so important in preventing, responding to, and reducing these incidents.
